Sarcoid prevention

My horse is having a small sarcoid removed next week by laser surgery. Other than fly rugs what do people recommend to help prevent them re occurring as it seems he is likely to get more in the future. I have been recommend to feed turmeric. Your suggestions much appreciated . Thanks

Turmeric for sure as a preventative. If your on facebook I would recommend joining the Turmeric User Group. Its a wealth of information with many files full of information. Set up by an Australian vet and now has many thousands of worldwide followers.
The key to success with turmeric is to ensure you have 100% pure, meaning a curcumin content of between 3-5%. It is very difficult for the body to absorb but by feeding with freshly ground black pepper and an oil it becomes available. I use micronised linseed as a carrier oil. I also buy my turmeric from Valleyview animal feeds as they guarentee the curcumin content.
My boy had sarcoids removed but two came back. Since feeding turmeric one has all but vanished and the other is crumbling away. I also apply it topically but found mixing the turmeric with sudocrem a tad messy, so I'm trying it with toothpaste, sounds bizarre but its working!
For what its worth, turmeric is also helping my two old arthritic mares and I take it myself for my arthritis in my knuckles, I'm now pain free!

Remember he is more risk to other horses than they are to him he has the virus that causes the sarcoids to trigger and start growing .
Stress triggers horses to grow more sarcoids that's why they often appear when horses move home .
Anything which dampens down the horses immune response is believed to trigger them as well .

Thank you, this is the same advise I had from a friend who also buys from valley view animal feeds. Also going to see if Turmeric helps my itchy shetland this summer and my older boy for his joints. It seems to be amazing stuff! I will join the Turmeric user group too.
