My horse has a sarcoid on her udder. She had it when we got her, it was only small but the vet recorded it at the vetting so it is excluded from insurance. It hadnt changed until recently and now it has started to alter a bit. I dont know if this is due to flies aggravating it. I know there is the treatment available which gets rid of them that the vet has to apply daily for several days. I would ideally like to do this and get rid of it but typically it has coincided with me getting my first house and i cant afford it just at the moment.

A lady told me yeaterday that she knew someone who had used that Camrosa Ointment on one and it had got rid of it. Just wondered if anyone else had used anything, not necessarily to get rid of it but to stop it growing any more would be great till i have saved up some money!

Thanks

its very very good my friend uses for her horses sarcoid and it has started to dissapear !!

Also good for cuts etc to help the hair grow back !

I used it and it worked for me but it isn't exactly 'cheap'. You must follow the instructions and the course to the letter or it will only make the initial problem worse. The recommended length of the treatment is 3 months and works out at 1 x starter pack and another 2 pots of the ointment (maybe more!) for 1 small sarcoid So budget for approx £100 and hope you get change.

when i was working one of our owners decided to try it and i found it AWFUL.
we tried it for about 8 weeks and then ended up having to get the vet out as the mare had such bad swelling etc around the site, she was really sore and depressed. (she did have then in multiple areas though)
also its quite expensive.

in the end the vet gave us a cream to be put on daily for a certain period of time - bloody strong stuff but it did the job.

personally i wouldnt use it again but i have heard good things so maybe i was just unlucky in the reaction i got when we tried it.

My sisters old horse was covered in them and her vet prescribed the cream from Liverpool.
Some of them were huge and it got rid of all of them. Towards the end of the treatment he got a little sensitive but we perservered and were really please with the results. I would be a little wary of applying the cream to the udders as you may well face a liitle resistance - might be worth talking to your vet and discussing options.

I think i'll take a picture and send it to the vet and see what they suggest, and i'll see if it has a neck to tie sume fishing wire round it but i dont thiink it has. I suppose it could be quite sensitive in the udder area. Thanks

Ive had the Newmarketbloodroot treatment on a tiny one on my boys leg. It worked well, but I dont think I perservered for long enough, and it has reappeared, although barely noticeable, so i am going to zap it again soon. Cheaper than Camrosa, and my vet has had a 100% success rate with it.

Does it bother her? I had this conversation with my vet the other day. Gin has a sarcoid on her chest. It has been there for a few years but was just a bald patch of skin until this summer. It has risen slightly but nothing that bothers her so we have made the decision to leave it. I just put some cream over it to stop the flies getting at it.

The liverpool cream really is the best treatment if you want it gone completly. It does make them really sore for a week though and burns through the skin so not too sure about using it on the udders. My YO's horse had a sarcoid on the inside of his back leg. She used the liverpool cream and because of the position it was in the cream got onto his privates. It burnt off all the skin and he found it very painful.

It's brillient stuff! My donkey had a sarcoid the size of a golf ball next to his eye which is one of the worst places. The vet could only suggest the Liverpool treatment at great expense so I tried Camerosa. It took two pots along with tying the sarcoid off to get rid of it and it has never returned (this was 3 years ago). Make sure you follow the directions closely although I would say that the shampoo and remover the company try to sell you is a waste of money and not required. A word of warning - when the sarcoid finally fell off IT STANK TO HIGH HEAVEN - YUK ! This is quite normal and you need to keep applying the camerosa for a good month after it's gone. Hope this helps and good luck.

Think i'll try the camrosa cream at the moment, i really cant afford liverpool stuff yet. Its worth a try, will order some asap as loads seem to have had success with it on here. Thanks for all advice!

my gelding had a sarcoid on his sheath and he had the liverpool treatment, and it has kinda worked! its just a pink scar like kinda bump. but he is really sore around it and wont let us put leg straps on him cos he thinks ure gona put the stuff on it. but if it comes back i will use camerosa, god knows how i'll get it on him!!! hope it helps.
