Hi, sorry I know there are so many posts about this. I have tried to boost my horses immune system, had one removed from his ear that has come back already. I've been trying Acyclovir. He has one near his eye which hasn't changed in 6 months, liverpool cream isn't an option for that one. He simply will not tolerate it. I've asked my vet about the BCG vaccine and was told they can't get hold of it . I will he asking for a second opinion this week.
He had a very small one (the size of a pea) on his side that was covered by his numnah, literally this weekend it has ulcerated and I can't now ride incase I rub/irritate it. I really don't know what to do, he is only just 7 and I really want to get cracking with him. So looking for experiences please? Success stories with the cream or laser? How long am I looking at him being off work? Is the treatment really painful for him? Feel terrible and just want to make sure I choose the right treatment. Thanks in advance

My mare had one beside her eye, it was dealt with before I got her. The previous owner told me the first vet advised putting her down because of it! Second vet treated with liverpool cream and it was fine. It did however leave a very large scar (flat black area). She had another sarcoid right in between her front legs which got irritated by flies a few summers ago, I put turmeric mixed with sudocrem on it twice daily, it shriveled up and literally disappeared. It went totally flat and has never come back (touch wood). I know everyone slags off turmeric, but hey it worked for me and Id rather try that than jumping straight for the liverpool cream etc. which is pretty nasty stuff. Meantime, it'll also keep the flies off it and help it heal a bit so worth a go.

Mine developed a sarcoid on his flank, treated with Liverpool cream and grew back the size of a large orange and smelt like rotten meat. Then had it lasered off about 4 years ago. Not come back so far. I would ask your vet and take their advice. There are apparently many different types, some clear up by themselves, some need treatment and won’t come back, some will come back whatever you do. Good luck.

I would have a look on Facebook at Sarcoid Cure. Some really great reviews, costs pennies and not painful, however it does take a while and isnt a quick fix like lasering for example.

Mine had one at his eye (in the corner). It was surgically removed and treated with a chemotherapy cream called Bleomycin over 60 days because this is less irritant that Liverpool Cream (and so it is commonly used for eye sarcoids). This was done on the advice of Dr Derek Knottenbelt after referral by my vet.

It has not come back (a year later).

Another sarcoid popped up near to it a few months ago but it has virtually gone now. I basically threw everything 'natural' I could at him - spirulina, echinacea as well as vet grade manuka honey rubbed onto the sarcoid. But either it wasn't a sarcoid in the first place or I've just been lucky. Interestingly enough when Dr Knottenbelt had a look at it he said just leave it.
