Sarcoids and insurance

I have just made a claim on a NFU Policy for a sarcoid to be removed by laser surgery.

I believe though if the horse was purchased with sarcoids they may be exempt.

Not a stupid question

Thanks for the replies. Now my second question; if you are halfway through the treatment and the insurance policy comes up for renewal - what happens?! Do they still carry on with the treatment?

Can't answer that, mines just about to have his second round of treatment next week, I guess the insurance will exclude sarcoids when the insurance is due for renewal next march.

Treatment will carry on and will be covered until the treatment for that particular sarcoid is finished then if more appear, they will probably be excluded in future.

Really interested in this- just had vet out to a "lump" on my horse's cheek, it literally came up overnight about 2 months ago and looked just like a fly bite. Vet was out at yard today and so got it checked out ! Vet took photos and thinks it might be a sarcoid or a melanoma but not sure so going to send photos to dermatologist - but surely a sarcoid or melanoma doesn't come up overnight - and I DO mean overnight?

Obviously going to have to inform the insurance company now - and because sarcoid and melanoma has been mentioned insurance will not cover these in the future (although obviously will be covered for this treatment cycle!).

Wish I hadn't bothered and left well alone!
