Hi all. Thought it would be useful to let you know of my recent/ongoing experience of treating a sarcoid with turmeric. I noticed a raised sarcoid on the belly of my gelding on the 21st March. The vet had a look and recommended surgical removal however, having read about about turmeric I decided to try it before going for the surgery option.

Started with a small teaspoon, mixed with olive oil (very pure - from my own trees!) twice a day and gradually increased to a heaped desert spoon. No change for about 3 weeks but now it's falling off!

Don't know how to post photos but hopefully you can see this link - https://www.facebook.com/groups/415...9&notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic&ref=notif - the lump has now fallen off :)

Interesting! My boy has what appear to be the beginning of two, one on his chest and one just on the side of his nostril under where the noseband goes. Size of 10p, black cracked and raised and the last vet that came out for something unrelated said it was "nothing to worry about". But am I correct in thinking you just rub it on? Im loathe to mess to be honest as its not doing any harm but the chest one is a new development, something like this can't hurt surely?

My mare was fed turmeric for about 4 years for another issue, she developed sarcoids during this time. Not saying turmeric caused them, just that what works for one doesn’t necessarily work for another sadly.

And just because the horse is fed tumeric does not automatically mean that it has anything to do with the sarcoid dropping off. More likely You are lucky your horse has developed immunity which would have happened with or without the tumeric as did with my horse ( no tumeric fed )!

I believe it can be applied topically but I fed it rather than rubbing it on.

http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/news/top-vet-warns-against-using-toothpaste-to-treat-sarcoids-403652 An interesting article ok not about tumeric but toothpaste which is equally claimed to cure sarcoidosis

Another over-excited article by Professor Knottenbelt destined to frighten owners of horses with a sarcoid out of their wits. Yes, it's cancer, and just like DCIS in women and the less aggressive form of prostate cancer in men, is a cancer that is slow to develop, often does not develop at all, and the majority of sufferers will die with it and not of it. It also has a high spontaneous cure rate, so his insistence on a rapid medical intervention means people are treating ones which would disappear anyway.

It's high flouride toothpaste, not supermarket shelf toothpaste, which is reputed to work in sarcoids. A claim which I don't believe Professor Knottenbelt has ever actually tested, maybe because he's too busy selling Liverpool Cream.

To be fair Professor Knottenbelt helped me totally FOC when a pony arrived at my yard with severe liver damage and when someone I know had a horse with a sarcoid (The likes of which I have never seen before, rapid growth near the eye) I gave the owner his contact details, she sent him photo's and shortly after he called her, he never tried to sell her anything, gave his time for free, spoke a few times to her and her vet and was incredibly helpful, he certainly did go beyond the call of duty for no reward at all

We have an old boy on livery he has turmeric daily he arrived with lots of sarcoids most of which have shrunk the biggest improvement in him is how free moving he is now he can trot for the first time in a long while and had a go at airs above the ground today when he arrived he could barely walk about. He was in gods waiting room but has taken a complete turn round and could almost go back to work. The bggest sarcoid was the size of an orange on his throat it is now the size of an acorn still there but much smaller
