Sarcoids in girth area?

I have just found what I think may be 2 sarcoids between my horses front legs on his girth area.

At first I thought they were scabs from something in the field, but now I think they might be sarcoids :(
I've only had him 6 weeks and he is a 3yo, I'm wondering whether him wearing a saddle/girth has irritated them... They definitely weren't there when I bought him.

It's really hard to get a good view of them. I will get the vet out but wondered whether it's advisable he doesn't wear a saddle in the meantime? Or whether they will have to be removed before he can continue to be backed?
Feeling pretty rubbish as he wasn't exactly cheap!
 
Bad luck. They can be brought on by the stress of moving and it seems likely that's what's happened in your case? I've had really huge success with sarc-ex with a horse who is riddled with them, but I did take them all off chemically first. If they are going to interfere with the girth then I think I would have them removed before putting any tack on him.
 
You need to get the vet to photograph and send to Liverpool but they sound like sarcoids, my pony has sarcoids in the armpit area which are currently being treated with Liverpool Cream.

Professor Derek Knottenbelt who is the expert is now in Glasgow, do i suspect both centres are now world leading in this field.
 
Like the other posters, I'd recommend you get your vet to check them. I've been battling with sarcoids for 3 years with my KWPN youngster (now 6). We've tried practically everything available, but what seems to have been the most successful, fingers crossed, is laser. He has them everywhere, but luckily the ones in the axilla are not too close to the girth. The last round of treatment, 3 weeks ago, was carried out by Prof Knottenbelt at Glasgow, where as ycbm says, he is now based. Despite having 19 treated by standing sedation and GA, he has sailed through it with very little discomfort, and they are healing really nicely now.
 
My youngster had a sarcoid removed from near her mouth in July. My vet excised it under sedation and local anaesthetic. I can now hardly see the scar but I have been careful to allow anything to touch it since the op.

I bought her as a just turned 2 yr old and she had been here almost 2 yrs before hers appeared, so I have no idea where it came from, as nothing at all had changed that I can think of. It was quite aggressive and started bleeding a short time after it appeared.
