Does anyone have any experience in dealing with sarcoids in older horses? I've recently taken on the day to day care of my stepmothers' horse who's 20 yrs old (horse not my stepmother!).
The vet has confirmed that she has several verrucose and occult sarcoids on the inside of one of her back legs, right at the top on the soft hairless skin. She has given me 4 options and has gone through them explaining the pros and cons of each: 1. do nothing 2. bloodroot cream 3. bristol cream 4. surgery.
Both the vet and I are swaying towards either the bristol cream or keeping an eye on them for the time being. The bristol cream would need to be injected into some of the sarcoids to stop the cream affecting unaffected areas.
So does anyone have any experience with older horses and sarcoids? Any help would be appreciated
