Sarcoids- is this normal?

my boy has just had treatment of his sarcoid on his sheath using the liverpool cream. it finished last weekend after 5 applications.

the vet has said if there is no real change after 6 weeks we will do another treatment and apply a lamb ring to the sarcoid as well.

the sarcoid is approx 3cm x 2cm diameter, has a smaller neck and you can feel right around the back of it- it does not have a very big root at all.

my only concern is that i thought it could take up to 3 months for the cream's full effects to show and i am concerned that we may upset the sarcoid and cause it to come back more aggressively by attacking it again so soon?

i really am sick of this sarcoid and wish i could just cut it off and forget about it!

If you're at all concerned why not ask your vet to e-mail photos of the sarcoid to Professor Knottenbelt at Liverpool University? He is a world expert on sarcoids in horses and he has a superb and definitive fact sheet that you can find if you google it. He helped me enormously when I needed urgent help with my ragwort poisoned rescued mare. If your vets are reluctant to do this, e-mail him directly yourself - he goes out of his way to help ordinary horse owners and if you tell him what your vets have done so far and attach a clear photo of the sarcoid, I have no doubt that he will offer the best advice in the land. The man is a saint.

Another use for toothpaste; I use it on split mouths!
As far as the lamb ring goes I have had this done on one of my mares a long time ago and the resultant problems I had from it were horrendous and very painful for my lady.
Her sarcoid was between her back legs and it was about the size you mention but it didn't have a wart like cauliflower head appearance, it was like a big lump under the skin and you couold get your fingers behind it to feel a root.
The rubber band tore away her skin (I assume it was so bad as the skin on the inner thighs is pretty thin) but not only did it tear away the skin on the sarcoid side, the rubber band also tore a hole in the skin on the other side.
The sarcoid dropped off but the two open wounds kept themselves moist and open and they chaffed away as she walked.
She was put on antibiotics and they gave me some healing cream (can't remember what) but this kept the wound wet and it carried on getting more open and sore.
Eventually my YO gave me something that I wont mention on here as it is a very old school method of killing off necratising (sp) flesh and drying up the wounds and rather unorthadox (i was desperate). Within a few minutes she was more comfortable and within a day the wound was noticeably healing. The sarcoid was gone and never came back again but it was incredibly traumatic for her. I have no idea how else they could've removed it bt it wasn't a pretty procedure.
Obviously on the sheath it wouldn't have anything to rub on but I would bear in mind the tearing that occured on my mare. This was a long time ago and I am sure they have improved their techniques but it wouldn't hurt to voice your concerns.
I would definately go with Box Of Frogs suggestion about contacting the specialist. My mare also had the arsenic cream on a different, more wart like sarcoid and it worked really well but I did have to send pictures to Liverpool before they would prescribe the cream and dosage (back then you could apply the cream yourself) I can't remember how many doses but I had to send pics between the doses so they could monitor it and I seem to remember it took quite a while.
