I just wanted to post for a couple of reasons. My wb gelding recently developed sarcoids (both verrocous and nodular) on his chest, stomach and between front legs. I was at a loss what to do with them having researched treatment options, I tried all traditional methods banding, tumeric, toothpaste etc and wasn't prepared to use Liverpool cream (due to cost and severity/strength of cream) even though he's insured I also didn't want to go down the surgery line of either freezing or lazer. So having read terrific reviews of newmarket blood root ointment on both this forum and other sites I decided to order him that along with sarc-ex supplement by global herbs. We're now two weeks in on treatment l, ALL yes ALL sarcoids have fallen off (even the ones which were just slightly raised scabby patches) and although they have left holes around 2cm wide and 1cm deep they have (for now at least!) cleared. I treated wounds initially after they fell off by bathing twice daily with Epsom salts in warm water followed by leucillin spray and wonder gel by gold label. I also brought him In during the day and left him stabled - at night he was turned out in a masta bug rug to stop the flies top to toe! Once the healing began and try had started to scab I now bathe every second day with salt, apply the leucillin once dry and either battles summer fly gel (bright yellow one) or msm cream and he is turned out again in his bug rug. This will be te third week of Treatment and the wounds have continued to heal nicely.

Healing generally has been quick and I have had a great results using the newmarket cream and will continue to feed the sarc-ex supplement twice daily until the tub is gone.

I just wanted to say a huge thanks for previous posts as the advice was a great help and also post my own experience for others to use as reference. Please pm me any questions and I have before, during and after photos if anyone would like to see.

It just shows it can be tackled without costing a fortune and now I am looking forward to getting my lovely lad back out showing without people saying 'he's gorgeous but those sarcoids are terrible!'

Thanks x

Thanks for posting - glad your boys have gone! I'd be v interested to see before, during & after photos - can you PM me please?

My mare is currently having treatment for sarcoids and we're using bloodroot too - I didn't want to go down the liverpool route as I've seen a horse go through it and it was a pretty horrible experience!

My little girl has one on her chest (which was banded and is now having bloodroot applied to it) and one on her face which is a bit flatter so could not be banded. It's slowly coming off layer by layer but appears to be taking a while.. They're horrible things and I really want them gone already! Vet has checked them each month when she's been out for various other things, and says they are looking fine and progress is being made, just seems like it's been forever (even though we're only 3 months in)
