Three months ago my boy had one sarcoid removed. It was quite flat about a centimetre in width but attached by quite a wide band of skin. My vet spent about half an hour carefully detaching the said lump and took quite a bit of flesh from underneath to make sure he had got it all removed. Stitched it up for it to heal and leave a neat scar.
Sounds simple ? 3 days later my horse decided to remove the stitches himself and so we had no choice but to let it heal inside out. It has taken ages but at long last we have it sorted.

Anyways, today he has had his 'peduncular' wart zapped with the cream from Liverpool university. He is only having 3 treatments this week and hopefully that will be enough.
What I want to know is that a normal length of treatment ?
I realise every case is different but I was sort of expecting the treatment to go on for longer.
Also if your ned has had the treatment how long did it take for the offending wart to drop off ??
Did your ned worry about having the cream applied ?
My boys' wart is on the sheath so rather a delicate part of his anatomy !
Last but not least did you continue to exercise your horse?

Any info advice greatly received

Bazooka cream extra strenght is great for sarcoids. My Vet said the sarcoid would return it never did. He wanted to use depleted uranium rods or something like that at a £1000 plus.

Yeah this cream has 'heavy metals' in it that is why the vet has to apply. Fortunately the insurance is paying. I will let you know how much the bill is when I get it !

Usual treatment with Liverpool cream is 3 or 4 applications with a few days in between each application. It's highly toxic and is a sort of chemotherapy for horses. I imagine it's not safe to use indefinitely. I would also have thought if your vet is applying it, then your ned has a sarcoid rather than a wart. I'd be happy enough to apply bazooka to a wart but you have to be so careful with true sarcoids. Treatments such as surgical removal, cryosurgery etc can cause them to grow much more aggressively. Fingers crossed for your ned x

Vet came and did 4 treatments of Liverpool cream on my mare.

I didn't ride her while he was doing this, but we are back riding now

Vet did advise smearing vaseline around the are to protect the surrounding skin. But use gloves!!!!

To be fair this one looks like a wart if you know what I mean but we are treating it as a sarcoid.I really only have so much time left when the insurance will still pay out for treatment. So we decided to zap it now and hope for the best. Thanks for your comments.

My filly had two lots of Liverpool Cream, first course was 5 applications, second course 4 applications (because I found further sarcoids after initial treatment started). Treatment finished mid May and we still have black proud "scabs" over most of the sarcoids. Not sure if these need helping off or to just leave them. Vet is due out in about 10 days to reassess the treatment so not sure what will happen then. My vets bill is over a grand so far, thankfully on insurance at the moment.
