Sarcoids - success stories please

Not used lasering. Beau’s developed after I think a fly bite, very pronounced/round, on his stifle. The vet gave me Liverpool cream and it eventually fell off. I had Summer fly cream smothered around to keep the area as unattractive as possible for flies. He also had a flat one in his axilla, which I treated with turmeric mixed in sudocrem. He had turmeric in his feed too. It had been there since I bought him, so years. The vet confirmed that it had totally disappeared. I was very surprised that it seemed to have worked.

The groom at my yard used blood root ointment with great success.

Hoping your horse doesn’t have reoccurrences.
 
We treated a sarcoid for 2 years, tried everything and it slowly just got bigger Eventually vet suggested it came off. After a few suggestions she decided to laser it . Tests came back as a rare tumour so they aren’t always a typical sarcoid.

Back at Christmas time I spotted a sarcoid on Winston, under his tail between us back legs.
He's nearly 5, draught cross or similar (unrecorded breeding), and passed a 5 stage vetting in October. Vet saw him beginning of Jan and said it would need lasering off, but agreed to keep an eye on it for a little bit. It hasn't changed in that time.
Yesterday I spotted another one between his front legs near his arm pit. I only clipped him last week and didn't spot it then.
Both are flat types. Vet is coming out next week, so will pick her brains but like to be prepared.

I've heard of youngsters popping out sarcoids and then having no other issues. Is it common? Or is this a sign of things to come?
And if I did have them lasered, how does it work - at home or at horsepital? Post procedure care and recovery?

My first ID got some after I bought her, they were banded and fell off never to reappear.
Next Id got some and most had cream put on them, the face one was the worst but now all gone.
 
I’ve had success with Liverpool cream for several. 1x small nodular on Welsh A chest, 1x similar inner thigh, 2x warty on KWPN throatlach and now 1x on face seems to be responding well.
1 bad one- warty on eyelid. Needed radiotherapy and that in turn gave the pony EMS type issues. Couldn’t maintain QOL so PTS.

Vet (very happily, he was glad to have a 2nd opinion that I was happy to pay for) sent details to Dr Knott. He removed it and followed Dr K's instructions. It turned out not to be a sarcoid..

Yours may very well be sarcoids although there may be different ways of dealing with them or even waiting in a younger horse. Even so I would ask your vet to consult Dr K before doing anything.

Don't panic until you have gathered all the professional info. and see what the options are :)

I’m not Paddy, but I do believe that she meant Dr Derek Knottenbelt. I’ve used this service set up by Dr K via my first opinion vet, and I thoroughly recommend it. My vet took photos and sent them in for evaluation, it wasn't expensive, and it was very helpful.
