My horse has small sarcoids around his sheath they do not cause him any problems and he has them for a long time he has also had them around his eye but it was removed my radioactive therapy. He was radio active for a week.

Has anyone any advice if they have used anything in the past which has cleared them up or helped them dry up and fall off?

A friend of mine had a lot of success with aromatherapy oils. I'm seeing her this weekend, so I'll find out what she used & pm you.

Hi there

My horse has two about the size of a 20p they don't bother him either, All I can say is if it's not broke don't fix it !
I was using Camrosa on them and it did work on the smaller ones then it caused my boy to lose his hair in the effected area so stopped using it. They don't bother him and if anything they have got smaller. In the summer I make sure they are covered with fly repellant gel and check on them regulary.
Hope this is of some help.

I have done that for the past year and all over summer they have not opened am pleased with that just thought someone might no a way to treat them and get rid of them completley

My horse had these and i thuroughly suggest you ask your vet, and get them treated the smaller they are the less painful they are to treat and they can cause problems as they grow.

My horse has about 3 on his sheath and a couple under his belly, he had the new cream from Liverpool and it worked wonders, he had to have the ones on his sheath treated twice. the cream basically burns them off but also works through the body and should prevent them coming back. our insurance paid for all the treatment. It took about 5 weeks for the cream to come through then about 1-2 months for the sarcoids to slowly burn and fall off as I said this is very painful and blisters the skin so teh smaller the sarcoids are the more pleasent for the horse. good luck x

My grey had one which flared up during the summer (think the flies got at it or something), it went all horrid and bloody. I just cleaned it daily and put Cut Heal on it which my vet swears by (and so do I!). Vet thought he'd end up with quite a nasty scar after and a bigger sarcoid but actually Cut Heal did its job and its gone right back down to barely visible again!

My friend who is at vet school told me not to use camrosa on sarcoids because if sarcoids remain then supposedly those horses that have been treated with it do not respond to further treatment.

My horse had three at the beginning of the summer which were not treated, 2 have disappeared and the remaining one got smaller, now just keep an eye on them and cover in sudocrem to keep flies off. Sarcoids are very strange things, each horse responds differently.

Hmm each to their own. I've used Camrosa for almost 10 years on many horses for many ailments and for all of the different types of sarcoids (except Fibroblastic) and I have to say in my experience it has never let me down. All sarcoids were painlessly removed and never returned.

To the OP:
Thuja cream is another option - I have never used it however others on here have.
