My 14 year old friesian gelding has a sarcoid on his sheath, I've asked a vet about it and she said it's hard with sarcoids on sheaths because it might have left a hole in the skin. I'm quite worried about him now as he is kicking it with his back legs, also ever since I've noticed it he's been losing condition! I brought him some conditioning mix yesterday and he's started on it today. I wondered if the loosing condition bit is to do with him getting stressed about it?! I looked at the sarcoid yesterday and it actually looks like it going to fall off soon, what should I do? I don't want to pull it off and I gets irritates and infected and I rely don't want to put a elastic band on it because I think it will just cause more discomfort. Any help, I would be grateful for it :) thank you xx

Sounds more like a wart. If it looks like its going to fall off just leave it alone. Best thing is for it to fall off in its own time than to mess with it and disturb it which might agrovate it. If you horses immune system is low then that may contrubite to a lack of condition and also may be partly the reason why your horse has got the sarcoid/wart in the first place. If it were me I would put him on a suplerment to aid the immune system (I would also consult your vet about what suplerment is best for your horse) thus helping him fight it from the inside.

Thank you, it is deffinitky a sarcoid, as the vet said. He is a very stress horse, he always has been even from his old home, I was thinking maybe it was that, I will ask the vet. He has a loverly yard gets turned out on loverly grass most days of the week, I was also thinking about letting him go to a friends yard for a bit, it's basically a holiday for horses, he will go out every day (depending on weather obviously) and be ridden maybe three times a week, but if I find out it's to do with his immune system then I will probably get the supplement and just send him over there for a week or two to just get his weight up a bit. Thank you for your help xx
