I have a sweet little mare on loan. When I took her on she had a couple of pea sized/shaped sarcoids, but apparently they'd been like that a long time.
Those ones are fine and unchanged but she now has two patches of lumpy bumpy wart types (it's hard to see properly as she's still got some of her winter woollies in those areas)
One patch in her left elbow, the other patch between her hind legs, on her right hind, quite high up.
Funds are pretty non existent, & it's obviously not covered on insurance.
I've always been of the view that live and let live with sarcoids, but these seem to have come up quite quickly.
She has the vet tomorrow anyway, but I'm not really up to speed on latest treatment options/costs.
Does sarc-ex or any other supplement actually help? I think I've read before thuja cream and toothpaste can also be options? Basically, what do I need to know?
 
Get your vet to take and send pics to Dr Knottenbelt’s company. It’s not silly money for them to evaluate them and discuss treatment options, it was under £100 a few years ago.

Also, feeding oily herbs for her hind gut helped my sarcoid prone mare a lot, and a few others have reported similar improvements too.
 
I would try and boost immune system

One with flat and warty bleeding and a jelly looking one all at the same time, i did not mess with them, another with warty on the ears that bled, i sprayed them with silver spray, gave lots of vits and long course of turmeric and black pepper in a tub with somthing else, its been a while ago,

They disapeared completely within 6 months

I would not mess them personally, they have a life cycle of their own , sometimes getting more sometimes just dieing

The are tricky things, take photos now to compare later

Lots and lots of home grown treatments, you’ll likely find your vet unable to recommend any of them, and many sarcoids don’t progress, some even shrink away under their own steam.
Toothpaste - probably needs to be something like full strength Duraphat, dentists can prescribe, but not for that!
Thuja cream is soothing stuff, the oil has a bit more zip, can also buy homeopathic tablets.
Copper sulphate (from agri merchants) mixed into something sticky like sudocrem / zinc & castor oil cream / Vaseline is often very effective.
Very sensible to check and boost your horse’s immune system as best you can, good luck.
 
Ask your vet, they’re cancer and whilst often non-malignant they do need monitoring. They both sound like they’re in area with a lot of friction so I would definitely seek their advise.
 
My pony is covered in them, had them since he was two, he is now ten, and only had one removed which was starting to ulcer. He has the flat sort and pendulous ones.

I'd not usually want to mess with them but these have come up pretty rapidly covering quite a large area and I'm conscious summer is coming up and they couldn't be covered with a fly rug.
I'll see what the vet says tomorrow too.
Sending photos off sounds like a very affordable starting option too so thanks for that.
