The sarcoid is now bleeding and the vets are just useless.
I personally blame them for their blind reliance on the Liverpool cream treatment which has caused this as the two which were not treated are either the same size as they were 12 months ago or smaller.
I am so upset, I got the horse in this morning at 10am and the thing was bleeding so I rang the vet and the nurse said oh we'll get one out by noon. I said you ??%^&* won't its gushing blood you'll get someone out now!!!
Useless, 3 packets of antibiotics was all I got and a lecture on having him to have a general anaesthetic to cut it out and that wouldn't work anyway.
I've seen him this evening, he's in filling his face and the thing is bleeding a little so caked it in cut/heal.
The horse is at livery so this means if I wake up in a cold sweat at midnight I'll be driving out to him.
This poor horse I bred him and all we've had is 7 years of **** and I'm fed up now.
Just unhappy at the moment.

I do feel for you.

Unfortunately this is a known problem and your vets should have warned you this could happen.

ie both the making it worse and the bleeding are known possible outcomes

So sorry this has happened to you and your horse

Have the vets not suggested lasering the sarcoids? It is done at the vets under a standing sedation and they come home the same day.

Might be worth enquiring.

I noticed my chap's sarcoid was bleeding yesterday evening a littlee, looks to have split so washed out with warm water and out dermagel on liberally seems better this evening. He just has little ones but in awkward places arm pit where skin moves a lot etc. I dont blame you for being upset there. Hope it improves, at least its not summer so flies should not do any further damage.

D hun, try not to let it make you angry. There's so much that isn't known about true sarcoids. If you Google Prof Knottenbelt's definitive guide to sarcoids, you'll see that the ONLY predictable thing about them is their UNpredictability. It's quite possible that the 2 other areas on your horse were never sarcoids in the first place. The only certain way to know if a dodgy patch or lump is a sarcoid, is to take a biopsy and look at it under the microscope. Unfortunately, with true sarcoids, the very act of interfering with them surgically can make them more aggressive. And different types of sarcoids DO behave differently. Do all the research you can about treatments for sarcoids. There are quite a few, including Liverpool cream (which has a good success rate but there can never be any guarantees), BCG injections, laser removal, excision, freezing. But nothing is guaranteed when you're dealing with a skin cancer. So many times, any form of invasive treatment triggers a more aggressive growth. Ask your vets detailed questions - they'll be happy to discuss all treatment options with you. And don't be mad at your horse - not his fault there's been 7 years of health issues. I expect he's as fed up as you are.

Thanks Box of Frogs but the monstroud oozing carbuncle was treated with the Liverpool cream nearly two years ago. The two treated alongside have disappeared and the two not treated are sacroids and one is definitely shrinking.
This morning after a night in and being covered in cut heal the thing now looks like a large hard boiled egg.
Going down to Cotts Farm to have a bone spur removed so I'll ask them to look at it.

sarcoids are such a pain! whereabouts is it on the horse?
At my work the youngster has one right by the girth and after he is ridden it always bleeds and looks gross. they dont seem to care much though. I wonder if it is what causes his broncing as well sometimes....
