Sat here in tears and don't know what to do

Hunny I can't better any of the advice already given, I just wanted to offer my shoulder and give you HUGE HUGGLES!!!!!

(((Hugs)))

Please find another yard where people understand youngsters! Your YO is talking a load of b0ll0cks, I suspect because she's scared of a big young active horse but knowing what the problem is isn't going to solve it. The local farm sounds promising, ok so the breeder does things differently but as long as you get on together that shouldn't be a problem.

Please don't worry. I've been in a similar position so I know how upsetting it can be when people act like this - I stayed at my yard but had to buy a companion & the YO will not, under any circumstances, handle my horse. I'm moving next week & my horses will be going back to my old yard where my "lunatic" was the yard pet handled by all & sundry! Find a yard that suits you, you sound like you've got a lovely young horse that you should be proud of!!!

****There is a farm 1/4 mile from my house where the owners let out the land and stables to a local breeder (Foxdale Orthello is her stallion) and although the breeder perhaps does things differently to me it may be a fair compromise as she has mares, youngsters and the owner of the place has a horse of her own too. I'll pop down and have a chat and see if they can offer me some grazing. Otherwise there are some nice livery's a few miles away which cater for all horses. ****

This sounds like a good idea. I really think that what's happening is more to do with your YO than you or Tilly! Happy New Year!

I think you should look for somewhere that has other youngstock living out. It is best for them to live out until they need to be backed. Ideally I would prefer my horses to go out with others but some horses are not too bothered, although from your post its seems as though Tilly prefers company.
Good luck and hopefully you will find someone who is more understanding of youngstock!

As you said, your YO has probably had a couple of frights perhaps when walking through the field when maybe Tilly came running up for a cuddle, and scared the woman senseless. Also, maybe she can see her 6 acres being chewed up with Tilly running about, and thinks how nice it would all look if there wasn't a horse on it. Thirdly, perhaps other people have asked her why she should obtain and pay for the keep of a companion just to keep your Tilly company?

As for the living out business, that's just rubbish. Most horses can survive perfectly fine outdoors 24/7 with decent rugs and good food.

If the stud up the road doesn't work, are there any other fields locally you can rent. I rent 6 acres for £11 per week and have 3 on it. If you advertise for a sharer with their own neddie, they can help pay the field rent??

Bloody YO'ers can be a pain in the arse sometimes!

Sod the YO Jen...you have nothing but that horses best interests at heart and I am sure you are fully capable of looking after it! We already know you love that horse to peices!!
YO sometimes feel the need to interfere me thinks...so I would say find a nice new yard and never look back!

Massive Hugs!!
