I have to say I am still in shock and I am hoping that the pore lady that got run over deliberately at Arena UK on Saturday is OK.

We were standing beside one of the main rings and there was a major argument going on between mounted rider who had just been eliminated and someone on the ground right behind the stewards boxes. It move away and we thought it was all over and done with and next thing I look up to see it had move further away and the shouting and swearing from the female mounted rider was exalting and next thing she swung her mount into the lady on the ground and riding the horse the lady on the ground.

Are you serious?

Have you spoken to police? If the person who was run over reported it they could probably use a witness. You sound like you saw it for yourself?

Oh yes very serious. The lady on the ground need the first aiders help for some time. Arena UK staff and stewards called. Rider rode off to the stables area. Later on I was ring side watching a different class and the rider about 17-19 year old strolls up bold as brass bragging to her friends the police were coming. Did not seem to think it was serious and was laughing with her friends in the collecting ring. I have never in all the years we have been going to shows seen anything like her. Gave my name to the steward to say if they needed to contact me. Also followed it up with email to Arena UK when I got home. Just so shocking someone could do this. LOTS of other people were witnesses to what happened. I just hope the lady she ran over is ok.

Was it a BS show or unaffiliated? If BS I hope whoever the jockey was is banned - and not just for a short period. Hope the other individual is okay too.

I would also contact the local Police with your details, as a witness, being as they were called. I too hope the lady on the floor is OK.

I would also contact british showjumping so that they not only have a record but they know you are prepared to give a statement as that person needs a long ban

I wasn't at Arena UK but I have seen similar things happen at BS shows - Juniors for what it is worth, but I'm not sure that makes too much difference. The rider just claims the horse spooked or jumped sideways. Horses are unpredictable etc. I hope it would make a difference that there were witnesses. It is too easy to claim you just "lost control" of the animal.

Police should be involved and British eventing should immediately ban this rider to send a clear message that this behaviour is completely unacceptable, if only 17 - 19 then surely she must have been with someone. If my daughter ever did anything like this I would call the police myself and the horse would be on horsequest before the end of the day.
