..... adverts on Facebook or the like, whether it be for tack, horses, or any other item, where the poster lists what they want, stipulate that it must be in immaculate condition, and then demand that "it must b cheep."

I posted an advert on facebook selling some old bits and bobs I don't use. Most in great condition, most for £5. Everyone messages asking if I will take £4, or £3.50 and will I deliever it to them. It's a bloody pound! Do they feel they've obtained a moral victory by cheating me out of a pound?! I waste more diesel driving it to them then I make selling the damned things!! I advertised a full bag of feed I haven't used on facebook, stating anyone who want's it can have the whole bag for a fiver but they must pick it up from me. I then had a lady message me asking me to deliver it to her yard (10 minute drive away). The worst part is I said yes and sat on her yard waiting for her for 20 mins this afternoon. I am the worlds biggest mug but needed the extra money to buy a bag of feed to replace the one I can't use. MUGGINS.

So I suppose, although I'm aware it's a recession, why do people seem to think for £5 (or less by negotiation!!) they can receive a brand new item and a delivery service? And why do people post wanted ads basically asking for the worlds best horse and then finish the advert with "must b cheep."

I feel like I am being a whiney old poo. But today this has really rattled me. Just advertised a brand new bit on facebook i've never used for £7.50. First comment is "will you take £4". I feel like swearing at the beggars :D:D

The X-Factor has also aggrieved me this evening. I just want to watch them sing ... I don't care what happened last week, I don't care about the X-Factor app, I don't want to watch adverts after every singer, I don't want to stay up until 10.35 watching a show that could run in an hour and a half if we didn't have to watch so many blaady adverts!

#endrant.

Happy Saturday everyone!

I'm sorry for being such a miserable s**t :p

Loooools at all that! If I see something second had for whatever price as long as it is reasonable I pay it. I love the adverts that are for cheap items and then still say must be cheap, there is one on a facebook page I have just seen for cheap rubber overreach boots, excuse me, aren't rubber overreach boots cheap anyway???

My own mini rant as I sit here is bloomin family that don't know when to go home!! I have dressage tomorrow, first ever novice I want to chill and make sure my show gear is all ready etc and they won't flip off!

Start cleaning your tack in the living room, that usually does the trick with my fam

Ha ha, I always feel better after a good rant too!! I recently sold some VERY well worn country boots on ebay - every fault detailed so no comeback but not so knackered only fit for bin! Started bids at 99p, kept getting message from a buyer (who was on blocked list as had many non payment strikes) 'I really want your boots, will you take £5?' I declined & left bids to run. Then it was 'will u take £10' then '£4' - arrrggghhh I said no, tough if you cant bid you shouldn't have messed other sellers around by not paying  In the end I was gobsmacked they went up to £24 & the winning bidder was chuffed to bits with them :D My rant over ;)

I feel your pain. the offers thing is bad but the delivery requests worse

I show chickens and sell the ones that dont make the grade on Facebook. there are 410 members on my local facebook chicken group and I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that not a single bl**dy one of them can drive!

I clean my tack on a saturday night in my living room with a chinese and bottle of wine. Then once I finish cleaning everything I head down to the local.

Ive bought a few things off FB recently & to be honest i never argue with the price,i assume thats what the seller wants & thats what ive paid. It does seem a good place to shift all your unwanted horsey stuff, the amount of secondhand rugs that have sold on there recently is amazing.

I've started cleaning tack in the living room on Christmas day before... Gives the gentle hint to the family to start heading home, as I start my boxing day prep :-)

The spelling alone would make me come over all stabby and unhelpful. The quibbling over a pound would send me over the edge. Hence I don't tend to sell stuff on facebook :o

The crux of it is that I cannot for the life of me be bothered with eBay, so because I am so lazy, I just prefer to facebook sell everything!

I get fed up with advertising stuff secondhand. I had a really cheap (new) numnah to sell lots of interest, once I mentioned postage would be extra, all communication ceased despite the fact that they had first of all agreed to postage. WOuldnt mind so much but I have a long shlep to the post office to get things weighed ! I usually try to get interest from people local to me who can collect !

Try advertising with a pound more on the price than you really want. When asked to take a pound off you can, buyer is happy to get a 'bargain' & you get the price you want.

The horseworld just seems to attract freeloaders. Nearly all yards have a borrower. If not of perishables, then certainly one who let's everyone else invest in tools etc so they don't have to. Along with requests to borrow bits, rugs, tack items etc. And for the last few weeks clipping related. Won't buy their own or pay someone, seem to think people should lend them some for the cost of resharpening. And people who expect free training. Erm, no, breaking your 4yr old for free isn't doing me a favour. Neither do I want to give a free lesson for the 'opportunity' of being allowed to ride your bad mannered, unschooled horse whenever I like. Even worse than those who want to buy your stuff free are those you know vaguely, who don't want to buy anything you're selling, but 'borrow' it instead.

Haha people are cheeky these days. You see a lot of things on tv etc encouraging people to haggle and I do love to, but there are appropriate times to do so like buying a car or a house or even a computer, not when buying horsey bits for a fiver!

Delivery is a joke, although for large items I have sometimes decided it'll be easier to take it myself and people are like 'oh will you refund the difference?' Err, what for the pleasure of driving to dunstable and taking 2 hours out of my day?! I always quote an exact price for delivery by weighing on the bathroom scales and calculating online, you'd think they'd appreciate being able to specify a time and day as is everyone's nightmare with deliveries. Oh and the thing not turning up broken!
