Well - I thought I'd just update you on how I did on Sat at the BSJA in Norfolk after being absolutely terrified.
When it came to the day - I actually managed to calm down a bit and R was really calm (complete contrast to how he has been at home!) and chilled.
so we just started in unaffiliated 85cm (I know it's small, but my first comp after a long break and first on a new horse). And we got a clear round! He was really pleased to be out I think. Then - jump off - not so good
there was a tight turn to a parallel and we got there on completely the wrong stride with no impulsion (my fault completely) and we had a stop because he physically couldn't have jumped it fom there. But he then jumped it and no other probs.
second class - BN - clear in first round! He felt fantastic really keen, seemed to meet every jump just right.. really pleased and he seemed to really enjoy it.
Then - jump off again
to cut a long story short, we had a similar prob as in the first jump off and he stopped at the second part of a double (lack of impulsion and wrong stride completely) but I'd already 'taken off' - so I fell off......
Basically I need alot more lessons/ practice on riding him as we still need to get used to each other. But I did survive!
Thanks for reading this long post! And thanks for all of your positive comments before the comp - they def made me feel better!
Now got to get ready for the next one
