Has anyone ridden on Saunton Sands beach? I’ve been looking at it and looks like horses have access from crows point. Just wondered if anyone knows if the beach is totally cut off at high tide? Ie do we need to be there for low tide or is there always a beach? Hope that makes sense - apologies for a silly question! Thanks 😊

I'm not local. Looking on Google wikipedia, SS website etc there is not the full length available at high tide, NOW there are a large number of cows grazing in zones 1 and 2. Bigish car park but make sure you park next to the access road and dont get blocked in. Have a look on the web and make your own decisions. Ring the Tourist information office they will answer all your questions

I don't know saunton specifically but this part of the world is one of the most tidal areas there ism on a strong tide it can differ 10 meters in height. You definitely need to time it right and also look at what areas are restricted due to army activity.

Unfortunately I don't really know the details but make sure you find out before going out. And be prepared dog walkers and tourists in the summer. Outside of school holidays would be better timing.

I am local, you can either go to crow or its possible to get onto the beach through main saunton car park if you're feeling brave (people with surfboards etc) From Crow you can ride round to saunton, the sand gets a little deep in places but once right round to saunton you can have a great gallop. I'd go at low tide, it doesn't get cut off as such but at high tide not a lot of room on the beach especially if there are dog walkers etc, at low tide there is masses of room.

If going to crow I'm not sure what the rules are if you've got a lorry but with a trailer you'd be fine, there is a toll to pay. If you want to know any more ask me, we're there fairly regularly 🙂

With reference to cows grazing they are on the burrows, you can't ride horses on the burrows any more as it was fenced off for conservation purposes.
