Saving money....Balancers

I’ve just contacted spillers yesterday as I have started feeding the spillers conditioning chaff which is supposed to be a complete meal but I would have to feed 4.5 scoops of it per days to replace a balancer which is way too much. He usually gets 2 cups of balancer but they have said that since he now getting 2 scoops of chaff per day he will be fine with just one cup of balancer which is great to hear as my balancer will be lasting twice as long. I currently feed Topspec but am keen to try spillers. OP how much is the spillers daily balancer out of question?

I'm in Shropshire and it's averaging around £23 for 15kg x

Baileys Stud Balancer is definitely cheaper than a lot of other balancers at the moment - nutrient dense and good value for money. £22 for 20kg bag.

I feed a balancer because I don’t feed the recommended amount of hard feed because most of mine are fatties. Everything has 24/7 ad lib hay and then if in work or the Broodies etc I feed brinicombes pink powder with the probiotic. I buy it in 10kg tubs and bought 4 last time for £200 (11 horses but not everyone had it). I can’t remember exactly how long it’s going to last but I’m not expecting to order again before spring. I can’t know for sure but I haven’t had an ulcer problems and I do feel as though my feed bill went down when I started using it for horses maintained the same condition. But just speculation.

That looks really interesting as I have to feed some gut support supplements as well as my current balancer so it would definitely be cheaper for me. I might give it a go once my current tub runs out.

Thanks, I hadn't heard of that one before.

this one? It doesn’t seem to contain zinc, copper or selenium?

Mine is a native. Not doing much yet as only just backed. Only on hay and grass looks great. Shan't bother with a balancer, been there, done that, and never seen any difference.
