So my wee man has finally been diagnosed with Asthma. He's now on ventipulmin granules and also a Beclamethasone inhaler twice a day.

His ventipulmin granules have cost £64.13 from the vet and his inhaler is £41.90 (enough puffs to last 20 days). He's suspected to need both monthly and suddenly having to pay £96.09 a month (as he'll have to have two of the inhalers to cover the full month - with obviously a bit let over).

I've been looking online for cheaper options (and there does seem some) but how do people find they work out after getting a prescription from their vet and obviously prescription costs. Also for monthly required meds does that mean getting a fresh prescription from the vet each month (and therefore I have a monthly vet prescription fee to factor in).

TIA, cream tea to all who got this far!

My vet gives 6 monthly prescription, this seems pretty standard, he says he has to check horse every six months in order to prescribe. Prescription cost £15, plus visit and exam, so still cheap but suppose would be visit and exam even if vet supplying drugs. Danilon is £86 from vet and around £50 on line so save about £90 every 6 months.

Gosh hope no one was checking my adding up, haven't been drinking mid day!! Should have read £106.03 a month.

That's really helpful thanks yertis, I will work out the savings (as hubby is still coming to terms with the bill and the potential monthly costs lol).

I'm the same - prescription every six months which costs £14. If you can take the horse to the vets, you can also save the call out charge.
