Would you move your horse to a cheaper yard, even if your horse was happy where he already is?

Say you found a really nice yard, MUCH closer to home and work that would cost less. What would you do? Considering Neddy is happy where he is (well, as far as you can tell anyway!!)

Why is it cheaper? Does it have the same facilities? If it was exactly the same facilites and is going to make your life easier by being closer to home then I would go for it! Horsey is just as likely to settle there as he is in his present yard.

Its cheaper, coz I wouldnt be paying some one else to turn out for me every morning (coz its close enough to work to turn out on way to work) Plus hay/hayledge is included and you dont pay extra to keep trailer there!

The facilities arent exactly the same, but adequate for me.

Id do it, im sure your horse wont be too upset

See, thats the problem, I dont really wont to move, but at the mo the horses have been in for 2 weeks and me having a very fit 6 year old, he's about ready to explode! Plus I cant keep my trailer at the yard, so its MILES away in storage which cost me £16 a month!
Plus, it would prob mean leaving my Mum behind, coz she wont move her horse!

I moved yards just over a year ago to one that was closer and I wish I'd done it years before. I'm sure horsey will be just as happy and if mum sees how happy you are, who's to say she won't join you?

Glad I have just read all that.
I have been wondering this morning about changing yards. Currently I do a 50 mile round trip after work to a yard that I have been at for 7 years (used to live 6 miles away) run by friends that I have know for over 15 years! Somewhere else has come up that will work out cheaper, has all year TO in individual paddocks (we have restricted grazing in winter), I can park my lorry for a 1/4 of the price, and it is 4 miles from home! But again, my worry is how will my horse settle in, and how will I settle in!!!

Think I will go and have a look this weekend - it all sounds great but you never know until you have a look at it.
