Sb racehorse rehoming

Personally if after a TB get a decent one and spend money on a decent one.

Firstly look for breeding lines which are seen in a lot of sporthorses.
Secondly, look for one who has raced but not been over raced and was mediocre to poor. I love a flat horse who was then a disaster over hurdles.
Finally look for one who has a decent wither, is uphill and moves well. They do exist.
There was a very good FB group and I could have bought a few!

Out of interest why would you prefer one that was mediocre to poor as a racehorse?

Mine was successful and raced til he was 8 and seems to have liked learning dressage stuff for want of a better phrase. I think having raced in some major races including at Royal Ascot he has pretty much seen it all. I think as with everything down to the individual horse and how has been handled. It is nice having one that has a good racing career when the commentator is talking about them. 😂. I did tell him not to brag about his racing though when in a class last year with a horse that won £1.5 million 😂

Isnt it amazing though how talented they are! I always fancied taking jim back to ayr to see if he would win again lol, every time he raced there he won 😂

Oh yeah I'm sure there are many ex racers that happily do normal stuff, I had one on loan after he retired at 11 he was brilliant I did everything with him only trouble was he literally would jump anything, he often sized up the arena fence if you went towards it a bit fast😂

Your horse sounds great a proper all rounder.

Mine showed no interest in going fast his 2 races and has no interest now. If a horse comes alongside him, he slows down to let it past. Other didn't even run as he was "too slow and lazy"

Suits me as it's still faster than I'll ever need to go.

Fortunately mine was a flat horse as my jumping days as long gone.😂. Y

my Ex racer was soooo fast. It was amazing but I only had one place I could really let her go. She raced for several years. I didn’t realise how quick she was until I rode someone else’s similar sized horse and how slow they felt.

There aren't any dodgy vets in the area ,.some less good for lameness than others of course, but I'd be surprised if any of the local ones said a lame horse is sound.

More likely to get them as a 4/5yo without too many physical issues. Also tend not to have been over raced. But I like them to have raced as means they are tough enough to stick training and have a bit of ability. It’s a fine balance of not doing too much but having done something.

If I wanted a team chaser/hunter then an older chaser would be perfect but I want an eventer so prefer not to have to undo bad habits.
 
They are local to me and would not buy a horse from them. Try Sophie Spiteri, I bought my current horse from her. She is in West Wales but well worth the trip. I went to her because of her reputation. I have not been disappointed. She is v honest and easy to deal with. My horse has exceed my expectations.
 
Just a dealer- I’m sure they have good and bad.
They’re currently selling a horse I had my eye on when it was advertised for 1k less than they’re asking last week. You cannot know a horse and add an extra 1k in value in a matter of days

If you are gunna buy get your vet to check the vetting
