I have a horse with mudfever (crrtainly not the first time he has had it) only this time I just cant get rid of the scabs!! Have tried my vets own lotion, sudocrem and keeping area very clean but nothing seems to be softening them!!! Any advice would be gratefully received!! Thanks :/

Fucidin H cream if u can get a hold if it
My horse had mag mudrash round his fetlocks on back legs put it on at night for 2 days & all scabs gone yesterday
I use conotrane cream on a daily basis 2 protect the skin- just rub some in to his fetlock area then smear it all over his legs so he gets turned out looking like he has 4 white stockings!

I have had the same problem with my thoroughbred, I used Hilton Herbs Tea Tree Cream to soften the scabs and keep the skin supple. I have also used the Dermolene Soothing wound cream which also forms a protective barrier for muddy conditions.

I used a product called Equi-Oxcide for my mares mudfever. We had been battling it for 3 months and got this product from a vet after everything else we tried and they gave me failed. Within 2 weeks the mudfever was almost gone.
You paint the product on every 3 days and leave the scabs alone. The scabs fall off once the bacteria has been killed by the product. Product worked a treat on my mare.
