A little bit of a strange one, don't know whether anyone has any ideas.
I have a 5 yr old few spot gelding, who has dry scabby bits at the top of his hind legs on the inside of the thigh, right up in his groin area. The areas have lost their hair, have gone quite flaky and dry and are round patches. They are in exactly the same spot on each leg, which made me think it could be where he gets sweaty and maybe gets some arena sand trapped up there, so have been very careful about making sure he has any sweat washed off.
I have been wondering whether it could be the start of sarcoids, but strange that they nearly mirror image each other in position, aren't sarcoids normally a bit more random? Then thinking ringworm, but it doesn't really look classically like ringworm? It is however very itchy, could sarcoids be itchy? is ringworm normally itchy? Doesn't ringworm spread like wildfire? Could it be protein overload, even though the rest of him isn't itchy.........
Anybody any ideas???
Thanks in advance!
