My bot has got large round scabs on one of his rear fetlocks.

I have no idea what it could be and he has never had this before.

I have plastered in sudacrem and when it is dry I brush the fetlock of and reapply sudacrem.

The fetlock does not lock as aggrivated, but and ideas what it could be?, another horse gets a similar thing, but it does seem a little strange why it would be so bad on just one leg. If it is any help it is on a white sock, his 2 full chestnut legs are not affected.

Haha, just saw your post in full.

Could be field mites? Darcy gets them all around his coronet band, heel and even up to his hocks and under his jaw. Infact, he came in like this tonight :

Front line spot on works wonders on their legs though. The spray is best, you need a fair few pipettes! They seem to be quite attracted to greys, not sure why though

It is just his white sock that is affected, the full chestnut colour are fine.

They are not ozzy, but are quite raised and hard, when I brush them off small clumps of hair come off as well.

I will give frontline a go, it could be mite, but he is scratching it

photosynthesis could it be, something to do with the sun, although haven't had much of that lately. My mare had this and I thought it was mud fever to start with

I dont think so sam, as it is just his fetlock.

HA HA, you will now wish you had not commented, I feel a picture email coming your way

Sounds a bit like what Darcy has too , they break off quite crumbly? If they do turn out to be mites they're nasty little buggars

They've given me all sorts of grief this year

i would say mud fever or mites! if mud fever clean up with diluted hi scrub and then dry well and apply flamazine cream if mites clip the feathers was in tea tree shampoo and you can get a product called stamp from global herb ment to be very good!
