Can anyone offer any advice please my youngster has an awful scabby tail. I have tried to put some soothing cream on it but the scabs are thick and I can't get them off.. Where they have started lifting his hair is coming out with it. Any ideas please x

Can you put some pictures on so we can have a look ? is he rubbing it ? If so, on what ? Any idea why ? Have you washed it recently (thinking lice - use deosect shampoo).

He did have a tail bandage on for a couple of days after a colic bout as I couldn't get near him without nearly losing my head. That was about two months ago, other than that whilst he was in he was rubbing his tail in boredom as he is never kept in, I haven't washed it or touched it at all as after the vet checked his gut hadn't twisted he wished to kill any one who went near his back end

What will that do? Do you put that directly on the scabbyness coz I could just see that making a big gloopy mess. Haven't used anything like that before so am curious not being an arse

inexperienced people should be very wary with tail bandages.
a horse near us had a very short tail due to being bandaged wrong for a journey.
bandages should NEVER be left on.
maybe look at sweetitch due to the warm weather lately or consider pinworms.

Thanks I will pass that on if I meet anyone inexperienced trying to use one.
Would pin worm make his tail that scabby? He has been double dose strong Id P.. I'm baffled at the moment

The honey-yes basically Lol!

I've just made up a spray on concoction with the neem which consists of neem an emulsifier and tiny bit of water. Apparently neem is great for everything. So cuts sweet itch mud fever thrush rain scald fly spray so I'm guessing it would work for you just do patch test first. The neem is an oil so if you put it on neat then it kind of clings to everything and is water tight. I'm also using it for thrush at the moment. The frogs are already opening out! Impressed with it!

Absolutely, haven't asked for help on here before and didn't know what reSponse I would get.. Will get the camera out tomorrow x
