has anyone come across anything like this before?

i noticed one of my collies had small sores either side of the mouth, on the lower jaw, just under the lower lip and behind where the upper canine tooth comes over when the mouth is shut. I assumed at the time it was where the headcollar had rubbed as it is the same on both sides. However it seems to be taking forever to heal:confused: Ive been putting sudocreme on it and in doing so by the next day the scabs will have almost gone. However if i stop the cream they seem to come back! When I first noticed the sore it was bleeding slightly and pink looking , now the scabs are black. I am paranoid as anything as another of my dogs had nasal pyoderma a couple of years back, but thankfully, touch wood , in this case there are no pustules or anything like that to see, just black scabs. Of course will get vet to check it out if it doesnt clear up soon, but the dog is 100% bursting with health every other way, so just wondered if anyone else had come across this?

Might not be the same but my rottie used to get spots round her mouth and under her chin. Took her to the vets and got told she had acne !
Bad enough having a son with it, didn't need the dog to get it to

Do you mean the folds in the lower lip? if so my dog has that the fold gets quite sore and red sometimes the vet gave me malacetic wipes from dermapet to wipe out the bacteria. He always has the problem just some weeks its not as bad as others. At first I thought his tooth had cut his mouth but then I realised its just a fold that is a heaven for saliva and bacteria.

no its not in the folds.. actually this dog doesnt really have any! ive been putting sudocrem on now twice a day ad its all but gone. Ive also removed a large bone and boomer ball from the kennel which i think may have been contributing if not causing the problem, ooops.!
