scanned in foal, advice?

My mare was scanned in foal on saturday, but they want to do another scan on tuesday. Can anyone tell me what this scan is for?

How many days in foal is she? Where you not with the vet for him to tell you? Maybe he suspects twins? hope everything is ok

I was on holiday, so my Oh took the call. Where we were my phone had no signal what so ever. All the stud said was that she was scanned in foal, but they need to confirm on tuesday. Sorry, i know nothing more. Was hoping someone on here could enlighten me

I'm going to ring them tomorrow anyway.

Depending on what stage the pregnancy is at, it could be:

*Double-checking if the coneptus was small at first scan
*Checking for twins
*Checking for heart beat
*Checking for survival of embryo after pinching of a twin

or they're talking rubbish and/or have a bad vet who is no good at scanning

Okies, thanks. I fully trust them, as shes at meadow stud. so will have a chat tomorrow see if I can find out wahts going on. Excited, but at the same time worried.

AimeeLou as AP says, could be a variety of things..........but it is not nice when you dont actually know............fingers crossed for you tomorrow.........keep us posted....

just got off the phone. They scanned her today and there might be a possibility of twins. The vet said was very unlikely though. So she's got another scan Friday, and one will be pinched if there is. If not she can come home!! woop!
