Maybe don't mention the age next time as that has no relation to the price of a scan but is sure to cause concern to the people who are reading your thread.
 
Can't help but think OP is trying to get a reaction here.....

Why would you put a yearling in foal if it wasn't an accident? I'm genuinely curious. If you've had expert advice then surely you must have a good reason, so why not be open? You might get more help.

I agree, mainly because there is no need to mention the age to find out the price of a scan but also because this thread will get more response (ie. reaction!) by being posted in here rather than the breeding part of the forum where it belongs.

Either way, I feel extremely sorry for the poor little thing and can't imagine any excuse that is good enough to warrant putting such a young horse in foal, she isn't even 'rising two' having not long turned one.
 
So having received a negative response last time, you decided to post another similar thread..no need to wonder why. You are either trolling or a dreadful owner, either way I am not wasting more time on this. I just feel very sorry for your filly if it is true.
 
The previous situation would appear not to have been the OP's making. Neither was it her horse. This situation may be the same, it may not. So to say the op is a dreadful owner seems grossly unfair - as no one knows the situation.

To the OP. Your vet can advise you on the procedures and costs.

If you didn't want negative responses, which you must have known you'd get, why on earth mention the age of the filly and then not explain the situation of why a poor baby horse has been put with a stallion? Only the worst kind of scummy ***** bag would even consider putting a yearling or 2 yr old foal in foal, so I'm assuming it was an accident that no-one realised and didn't get a jab for to stop the pregnancy, if so why not just say so so people can then answer the question you want? Instead of getting annoyed that people are concerned for the poor fillies welfare considering this is a site for horse lovers? And why not ask your vet for the cost of a scan as it varies so much from area to area, or ask if it is too late to get the pregnancy stopped for the sake of the filly??! I do hope it wasn't deliberate or that would qualify you as a terrible owner!!
 
Ring the vet and ask for price.
OP - if you post that the filly was running with the Jack since April, people can only assume that you knew of the situation and therefore it is a deliberate action.
 
7Can I ask you why you are waiting till Nov/Dec to have her scanned? Why not have her scanned now? My mare was scanned in foal (embryo) a few days (18 I think) after she was covered using AI. You said she was running with the 'jack,' is he a donkey? Personally, I wouldn't allow the pregnancy to continue in a filly as young as yours for various reasons. I hope all goes well and your decision is the correct one :)
I pay 80 euros a scan and my vet doesn't sedate unless needed and yes, 'things' can be seen from a very early date until the 4th month (?) when it is difficult to see due to the fetus being in an awkward position. It soon moves into a better position and can be seen clearly. I watched my Quarters fetus sucking and shaking his head. It was a wonderful thing to see :)

I actually said "may be" amymay, not "is" - but I stand by what I said - if this is an early enough pregnancy to be having a first scan, it is early enough to end it. I am shocked that some people are just giving advice on scanning costs without actually saying anything about this youngster being put in foal. Imagine someone who knows nothing about breeding reading this thread and then thinking it is ok to put a foal in foal. Even if this was an accident, and the OP has taken the filly on out of the goodness of their hearts. Would it really kill them to explain the background, rather than trying to be provocative. And no OP, I haven't given you anything useful and never will to someone who continues with a pregnancy for such a young horse. I only wish to promote responsible breeding and for the past several years have tried to do just that with the input of experienced breeders and those who take it seriously. I would never wish to be someone who thought it ok to do this. If you didn't want to spark an issue, why not just ring your vet in the first place and ask them, you knew exactly what you were doing by posting this.
