My 18 y/o cob has had a few scarcoids on her inner thigh for about 3 years now. Im a very firm believer in leaving well alone unless its nessacery to intervene, but did have a large nodular removed from her vulva (banded by vet) as it has ulcuerated and was ghastly. The banding was sucussful (but costly). The few she has under her thigh have recently got bigger and I have been trauling through forums and websites for lotions and potions for cures. I have 3 day ago started to apply Thuja cream to them (although when my vet came she looked at me as if i should be drown in a river for attemping such witchcraft!) but if anything they look to be getting worse, one is red with yellow puss under thr surface which is thretening to errupt. I know its early days and im just being impatient but im worried that intervening has made them angry. Has anyone else had this reaction and do they tend to get worse before they get better?
 
If they are that bad I'd get your vet immediately and take their advise. They do recommend Newmarket Cream but I wouldn't think it would help with one that is obviously infected :(
 
The only thing with Liverpool cream is that one on her inner thigh rubs against her teets so i would end up with a pony with sore boobies :/ i also think Liverpool cream is very severe, although if thats what it needs then i will be forced to give it a go.

One of mine had it on his inner thigh as well, his sheath etc was plastered I mean plastered in sudo cream. He didnt swell until the last application, he was given 4 sachets of powders which did the trick:):)
 
Gibley. I had the vet out on Monday (for yearly boosters) and she had a look. She agreed that they are quite large but advised just to take pics of them to record any change. Whenbi mentioned Thuja cream she was dubious although said it wouldnt hurt to try. But all she recommended was Liverpool cream which i mentioned above that i find it a little harsh as it would touch her teets.
 
If you read a post a couple of threads up someone used Crest Original Toothpaste and it worked. Used a lot in America apparently. Have a read.
 
Blood root ointment works for sure, I've used it on the horses a few times; but it's a bit expensive and can cause some swelling. Can it be banded? my donkey had a large one on his sheath, banded with a castration band and it just fell off, there isn't a scar or anything there now.


Here it is. Covered in aluminium spray to keep the flies off.
