2 fighter jets fly v low over me on my 3rd hack out on my youngster. He bounced a bit on the spot and by the time the 2nd one rocked up he stopped bouncing. My friend was v pleased we didnt head for home quickly!
a christmas tree tied on top of a car, likewise a big role of tubing tied on top of a car, a herd of about 150 sheep coming down the road towards us and a lightening bolt that struck the floor about 80 yards in front of us
probs the most bizarre is Turbans.. if someone wearing one is walking towards my welsh D mare she freaks.. the brighter they are the more scared she is!!

Definatly the sheep!
Remember riding my old horse in Cyprus and we were riding along when suddenly 3 sheep appeared literally above his head on an overhang on the mountain.
Not only did they just suddenly appear but proceeded to stand there going "PAH" at him. He flipped attempted to run backwards eventually after standing still shaking for 5 minutes ran past (apparantly he closed his eyes),
From then on if you leant forward and went "PAH" at him he jumped a mile.
When we werre living in Germany the worst thing we came across was a herd of wild boar with pigglets one side and adults the other we got out of there very quickly. Quiet often came across squadrons of cheiftan tanks but horses did not seem to mind them as much as they did the boar.
a swan ran/flapped across the river and chased me on my big wb, he thought that was pretty terrifying and legged it.
fighter jet going overhead so fast and low that i could hear the air ripping. mare was a tad upset but pretty good about it.
a guy who was crouched down gardening behind a wheelie bin and leapt up like a frigging jack-in-the-box as i got level. he got a bit of a mouthful for that!
very rattly metal trailers aren't good, have had a few dancing-on-the-tarmac moments because of those.
pony and trap freaked out 1 of my eventers once, could have done without that!
worst ever was a tractor driver coming down a narrow lane towards me while i rode and led up it, he was waving at friend in field and not looking forward at all, i had hi-viz on and nowhere to go (no driveways or field entrances) and he got to within about 40 feet of us, doing about 20 mph, before eventually looking forward, seeing us, and slamming on the brakes... by this point i was yelling, gesticulating, genuinely panicking and expecting to die.
A one eyed chihuahua which we used to have to pass on one of our regular routes from my old yard. The only think it ever did was look at him funny but Boo was terrified of it and used to shake going past it.
Our horses are fine with this, but a lot of people round us are terrified of meeting her. We have a carriage driving champion that lives just up the road from where we are stabled. It was a bit daunting the first time she was trotting towards us with a team of 4, but ours are both ok with it.
A large inflatable santa that had come loose from its moorings and was heading down the road towards us.... H wasn't that bothered but it sure as heck scared me!
He's more worried about things that are gone. Dumped car on fire - no probs. Council come and remove said car meaning the next day it is gone, eeeeeeeek!
I have met a Pennyfarthing, an elephant, a wild mule, a helicopter on a low-loader, ostriches and a peacock with its tail in full shimmy. Think the most bizarre thing to make us jump was a guy getting up from kneeling on a prayer-mat and giving it a good shake to get the car-park bits off it!
We regularly come across kite-flyers on the beach whose kites can come to earth with a 'fluttering whup' and no notice.
A stolen car being driven towards us at about 50mph on a country lane - with the boot flapping open and a washing machine covered in plastic flapping in the back ...they slowed down to about 49mph as they passed us!
I knew it was stolen as it was followed seconds later by a police car (with sirens and lights) going at the same speed!
Thankfully I was on my old bomproof boy who didn't even flinch & we'd managed to block in the two other horses we were with so they couldn't move either. It happened very fast but afterwards I was shaking so much I had to get off - a guy from a a yard on the lane came out to check we were ok and ask us if we wanted to have a 10 min break in his yard and a cup of tea! Bless him.
The 2nd scariest thing was coming across a man in a car with his engine on lying back in his seat with something strange hanging out of the drivers window. My mind went into overdrive and i thought he was trying to kill himself with his exhaust ... so we jumped off and tried to open the door - which was locked and I'd just picked a brick up to smash the window when the guy woke up and nearly had a heart attack. He'd just been having a nap and the strange thing hanging out of his window was actually a shadow of a branch! The shame lol
My scariest thing was when I had to ride through a swarm of bees by the time it dawned on me what it was it was too late we were n the middle of it. First time ever I cantered on tarmac!!
