Do not know if this has been posted before but am intrested in any info on covering scars or any products, horse was kicked earlier in the year and has scarred him, i do Working Hunter where scarring is not frowned upon but Ridden Hunter i believe he may be marked down. Any suggestions???? very much appreciated.

You can get all sorts of horsey make-up to cover scars. Sticks, like human 'blemish cover' and sprays. They come in all horsey colours, or you can blend them to match your horse exactly. You could just as easily use human makeup, there will be a whole range of eyeliner pencils in horsey colours... not that I am in to makeup!

Remember that WH is for WORKING hunters... ie, horses that are up to a seasons hunting... and scars go with hunting. I shouldn't think you would be marked down.

As for ridden hunter, it is a bit more 'showy'.

If it was my horse, I would make the best job of some coverup make-up, if it still looks obvious, I would go without make-up for WH.

If your horse is a serious show prospect you might concider getting him a skin graft... personaly I see no point of putting a horse through a proceedure that is simply for looks. However, if it is scarring that the flys won't leave alone, then this might be in the interest of the horse.

Thanks for that i will give it a go, no the flies do not bother the scars but it is a shame he is a nice horse, well bred,(RID) it is purely cosmetic, i would not put him through a skin graft, i do believe it will hold him back though.
