I have been having some major confidence issues with my jumping, Boo keeps stopping, because numpty rider stops riding at the last minute  cue bruised chest & face from face planting pony :o He also has a distinct dislike for fillers  and prefers mum to check em out first!

Ive been practicing hard at our jumping, keeping the canter going forward, a lot easier now the doctors givin me inhalers for my asthma!! not easy to keep pony going forwards when you cant breathe :(

Anyhow, went off to our local RC on Sunday, booked in for the 2'3" and the 2'6" small fry to a lot of you i know ;)

There were some little fillers in the first class, however, we flew round, Boo has got the message now, legs mean go & ive got the message now, don't take your leg off or pony stops - cue face plant!!! We got a lovely orange rossy and came 5th place, was very pleased with us both.

2'6" was next, and they had put in the big scary fillers, the first being fence number 2, so over number 1 a lovely little cross pole, pony lands, i get straight after him as No 2 with big scary filler looms large, leg on, spur on, stick on growwwwwwlllllllllllllllll whooooooooooooohooooooooo over we go :D, jumped the rest of the fences lovely, a few more growls and spur on from me, coming to fence No 9 another scary big filler, cue more growls, spur etc., i felt him take a little look, so growled some more :D again flew that one!!

Then realisation dawns, its 2 phase so i have to jump scary No 2 AGAIN!!! but hey we did it!! :D Placed 4th with another double clear.

Sorry i have no pics :o but wanted to share as im soo pleased more with myself than Boo, i know he can do it, its me that lets him down, but i think ive got my mojo back now though, because i was very tempted to jump the 2'9" as well, but im going to stay at this height for a while and get myself really comfortable before moving up.

Thanks for reading - double deckers to all who got this far :D

Yummy double deckers -snarfs- :)

Sounds very sensible to stick to what you're confident at, especially with rounds as good as they sound. Well done, you'll be flying in no time :)

:D Thank you - i hate fillers with a passion, a few seasons back, he stopped dead on me and put me over his head & flat on my back, the ground was like concerete, its taken me all this time to realise i need to really ride him hard at things like this  obvious to most people i know, but im not getting any younger and being over 40 now  it hurts more  so the attitude is shout, kick growl, stuff what you look like as long as you get over them! :D

Thanks Solo1 - hopefully like you say we'll be flying in no time enoy your double decker ;)

aww well done! Im quite jelous as im having real trouble with fillers at competitions at the minute. At home he's fine with most things but at comps we go to pot! Its good to know there's hope for us too!

KatB - thats what scares me now, is forgetting how i felt, so im probably going to do some jump training once or twice a week, as we don't get to shows every weekend :(

DottyforDylan - i don't seem to have as many problems at home either  if i can do it anyone can ;)

OneInAMillion - Thank you :) im still grinning today

Yahoo! WELL DONE!!
I'm delighted to hear your story because my mare stopped at plain poles on Tues. Well having a look at them anyway, then I lose my bottle n give up. Fillers are no problem because I think I ride on to them properly. It's horrible and confidence destroying though, isn't it? I'm starting completely from scratch in the lesson tomorrow.
I'm delighted to hear your success story!! :) :)

FF - Yes it is confidence destroying, but i think im getting somewhere now, just have to remember to keep riding. :D

Babybear - Thank you, yes he does seem to look to me for confidence and ive been letting him down :o but i do feel after this weekend, we have a better partnership now, if i say go he will, but i have to mean it :D

WELL DONE you, good on you for conquering those demons :D

Everytime you jump from now on remember the feeling and things can only get better :)

FF - Yes it is confidence destroying, but i think im getting somewhere now, just have to remember to keep riding. :D

Now this is EXACTLY what I have to remember, sometimes I stop squeezing on the last stride and she'll either stop or go deep and launch. You have to "ride every stride!" as someone once said to me :)

jenbleep - Thank you

That is it exactly, ride every stride & then some, i do tend to stop riding at the last stride :o

If i can keep going at these heights, im comfortable and i know he can do them from a standstill it gives me the courage to keep riding, even if its something i know he's going to have a look at.
