Scary Hack!

Today me and a friend were setting off for a hack, when all of a sudden a dog came racing round the corner and got completely tangled in my mares legs! Next thing we knew it was lying in the road motionless, god I thought we had trod on it or something but it got up and ran back up the road so must of been ok

I think it just bashed into us and gave itself a fright. YO said he knew where it came from so would make sure it got back ok, I hope they dont let it run round the roads like that all the time imagine if a car had been coming round the corner instead of us...

I can never understand why people think hacking is for wimps. We have far more scary encounters out on the roads than any where else. In the last 6 months 2 people riding out with us have had serious injuries (smashed cheek bone, broken shoulder & ribs) caused by tractors and machinery (not the tractor drivers fault, she didn't see us) and cut grass hiding a ditch.

I agree with cyrilsmum as i also dont understand how people think hacking is any less 'challenging' or interesting as another other ridden experiance on a horse. Everytime I ride out something scary happens, nothing too dangerous thank god, but still terrifying for my boy lol!

i totally i agree i can school and jump and not be too bothered but go out for a hack you have to have your wits about you just trying to have a canter can turn into dodging from side to side at scary bushes! lol
