I watched a friend ride up our lane yesterday in the sunshine .A serious and concientious rider, had her yellow high viz jacket on.In amongst the sunlit leaves her jacket became invisible .She might as well have been wearing camoflage. I was honestly surprised and shocked.I love my yellow high viz jacket but am seriously thinking that red,UUURGH mike sticks finger down throat, might be better in summer and bright light.

Couldnt you have called it red.I was just about getting prepared for red, but "PINK" is a jump too far:eek::eek:

Call it light red Mike007, that's what my step-dad insists on doing:D

I would have thought a mix of colours would be most effective - model your look on a chameleon hanging out at an acid house rave and you will not go far wrong. I do.... green hat band, pink (sorry, sorry, light red) sam browne belt and yellow leg bands:D Rave on!

In summer when its bright and sunny I usually wear a red or orange t-shirt or blouson instead of my usual hi viz. Riding alongside rape and corn fields, the yellow doesn't show up enough. It also tends to attract midges which is a pain.
Can't quite bring myself to wear pink hi viz, its a bit too girly.

Good point Mike, never thought of that... will switch to pink....

Lucky I have a spotted-bottomed horse which is as wide as he is long - this helps slow traffic down as it bamboozles drivers - they don't quite know what the hell it is :D

I've noticed this when riding with my friend in the woods, she blends in in yellow, one reason why I wear pink even though my horse is a boy and we've had commets oh isn't SHE pretty ha ha then I tell them he's a 32 year old boy

Edited to say light red ! not pink

This is why i wear the pink high vis too - and pony is a boy too :p we get some comments, but i'd rather be safe. They say on a grey/white horse pink is better, but i think at this time of year with the sun and the amount of crops/grass & rape you do tend to blend in sometimes with your surroundings when wearing yellow

I have a green waistcoat thing as I'm also doing the mix and match. Hopefully then we won't blend in too much. Pink on her front legs, yellow on her hinds and a yellow neckstrap so we are multi-coloured!
I am cross with one of my friends who went out with nothing last night - scary how hard it was to see her coming back down the road to the yard on her way back :(

As orange is the offical hiviz colour for transportation and a horse is a form of transport I vote orange ...... + I get it free from work ! :-)
