Does anyone have experience of these saddles. I toying with the idea of getting one but they are excruciatingly expensive. Are they worth it? I figure if they are as good as they claim to be they will be worth it in the long run.

Thanks.

I did look at them online through desperation but I didn't think my location was remotely conducive to having one. Their own opinion is of course they are amazing but I didn't find much info about anyone else's opinion either.

Having been witness to some claims made by another company which I now know to be complete and utter tripe, I was not about to be sucked into another potentially expensive minefield to find out if they really are as good as they say.

I've got one, and love it for my horse who is very hard to fit. Mine is one of the very few VSD models, my horse is too wide for a dressage design, but it is fully adjustable so you never have to replace it - fitters can adjust both the head and the flocking on site. I do know of a second hand one for sale, if you are interested I could give you details and also details of the fitters. The main problem here is there are no fitters in the UK, you have to wait for Inge and Kriemhilde to come over a handful of times a year, but it works for mine without any problems.

Thanks FFionWinnie I know exactly what you mean. I had a few years of several mtm[ top brand] saddles by ' acclaimed' saddle fitters all of which did not fit. I ended up buying myself on ebay and fitting an XXw Ideal myself with shims which was far better and much cheaper.I lost loads of money.

I'm now dipping my toe again cautiously. I know my current saddle doesn't fit - despite being 'fitted by a master saddler!! I have heard great things about the Schleese saddles but also someone I respect greatly has all his horses in them. He trains with the horses welfare as a priority.

I'm going to try some demo saddles in a few weeks and my horse should be able to tell me if the saddles are as comfortable as they say they are as he's currently not happy to go forward ion the current saddle.

Thanks JillA .

I've seen an HK dressage for sale second hand in Scotland but as yet I am unsure. Is it the same one you know of ? If I can get a decent second hand that would be good but in an ideal world I would really like the Obrigado .I normally ride in a 16.5" though . I'm not sure if they come in this size and I might have to settle for a 17". The Obrigado is the latest model but it is the price of a small car!! Inge is actually coming to me in a few weeks with demo saddles but I don't think she has any second hand. I believe she comes every six months or so.

As I'm fed up of my horses having bad backs I feel if this saddle works[ I believe they can share the same saddle with appropriate shims] it will be worth it. Will save on physio and vets bills plus they will work better and hopefully spook less!! At the end of the day I'm not happy riding them if their backs can't work freely. The wait is not a problem as I have to wait for the' not very good' British saddle fitter anyway.

The other doubt is that they weigh a ton I believe. I struggle to lift my Ideal onto my 17.2" already as I'm only 5'1".

I'm surprised they can't fit wide horses in a dressage model !!

They can fit wide horses in a dressage model but I can't get my short legs deep enough to fit one, my legs only just reach below the flap!! They aren't any heavier than a normal English saddle, in fact the weight was what put me off a WOW some years ago, but my Schleese is fine for me to get on a 16.1hh horse without any problems.
Inge knows about the one I mentioned, it is in Lancs, belongs to a lady by the name of Jo. Of course she might have sold it, and I don't know any details of model and size, but I can contact her through FB and ask her to email you if you message me an email address.

Oh dear I've got short legs too! Yes I had a Wow before and the weight also put me off. The fact that it didn't fit either didn't help especially as there was zero after sales service!!

I'm know someone in Lancs has bought a second hand 17.5" Schleese HK but I don't know who from . I wonder if this is the same one? Inge didn't mention it when I said I was looking for a second hand one. It would have been too big anyway if it's the same one. If you could find out some details that would be good. I'll pm you then if I can work out how to do it on here. Thanks very much.

Will be interested to hear how you get on.

I ended up with a solution saddle which has as the name suggests, been my solution for my horse. Worth considering a trial of them too, as it's pretty cheap for a fitting and then there is the option of renting them to see if they are what you want.
