School Masters ££££

Have been on the lookout for a schoolmaster for some time and have just phoned an ad in H&H. What a shock it was when I was informed that a PSG will cost you upward of £30k, unless you wanted one that was lame, very old or unrideable

I either have to do a couple of extra nights down the docks or give up this fantasy of top hat n tails

Do I keep looking, or give up ?

Well yes, any horse at a high level will be worth a lot! I wouldnt expect to see any PSG for less than £30,000 TBH! Unless like you say, its old or lame!

Just like I wouldnt expect to buy an Advanced Eventer for less than that sort of money! How much did you think they were? Maybe, if you have the experience, you could buy a youngster and bring it on to that level?

I'll meet you down the docks and I've got the top hat n tails.As you know I sold mine 20 years ago for £10,000 so I'm sure they must be at least £30,000 now.
Maybe we could do the mistress bit, I think that also pays well, and I think we would be good at that and we have the equipment

Highland Henry (Jane Greens old horse) went for £20k about to go GP! so they are out there cheaper - just keep looking

Naaah Cathy, I could never be a mistress hun. I fell out of the ugly tree and bounced off every branch on the way down

Dont really know how much I expected a schoolmaster to be, but my trainer suggested that something, maybe Adv level which was slowing down in its competition career could be picked up for £10-15k.

Im too old now to bring a youngster on and I only compete up to Elem. Wanted something that had been and done it, dont even mind a few quirks. Think I have just had one of those 'get real' moments

They pay extra for the old and ugly so I'm going to make a fortune.

Thanks Mad, £20k is still more than I could pay, unless they were willing to take my bod in part ex
