Hello everyone, after a bit of advice, I've had my 5 year old gelding for just over 3 weeks now and I'm struggling a bit with him, out on a hack he is perfect and really laid back but as soon as I take him into the school his whole behaviour changes and he spooks and has done the odd rear. Any advice on how I can get him more settled in the school??? It's like he panics and then doesn't listen to me at all xx

if it was me i would lunge him in the school and try and get him to go on the outside track as much as possible and after lunging just walk hum in hand round and round the school to cool off. do that a couple of times and then if he seems calmer lunge first in tack and then get on and ride in the school... he may be worried about being in the school , if that doesnt work i would get an experienced rider to try him in the school and if they find he is ok, try and get some lessons for yourself as he may just be trying you out to see how much he can get away with.

Thank you so much, I will try this...I have long reined him in the school.and he was fine , but as soon as I get on him he will spook at anything
