Schooling livery recommendations

I now have 2 (!!!!!) young horses who I need to send off for breaking/schooling this summer/autumn.

The key thing for me is I get the yard right. I think I have found the right yard for the palomino, he will probably go to someone I know in Sussex to be done in September.

The tb, however, I am not sure about - I don't want to send him to the Sussex yard as I know he is simply not this riders 'type' of horse, and I want him to go somewhere right. My gut is telling me to send him to an event rider.

Anyway - the tb (John Terry!) is a 16.3hh chestnut. He is a chunkier sort of tb, though he has dropped off a bit as he has been out of work for a year. He raced once as a three year old and broke down, now is ready to go - doing 1hr on the horse walker and 30 mins lunging after being in racehorse rehab!

He has not been sat on for a year until this weekend - we legged straight up and he was fine.

I really want him to be a little event horse type - he would be super, moves well, and is well put together for a tb. I want him to be the horse the Palomino was supposed to be before he busted his leg so wonderfully - something to hunt and do up to a pre-novice on.

I am happy for him to be in my field for a month or so and do ground work with him etc until I find somewhere, but I need recommendations. I know pure sjers or pure dressage riders, but very few event riders, and even fewer that do schooling/breaking livery. Would prefer up to 1.5hrs drive of Surrey.

Please help!

Thanks

A friend of mine backs and produces horses, excellent jockey, she events. Her forte is young horses.

She is based near Braintree. If you want more details then PM me.

I would recommend my trainer. He's based in Plaistow, West sussex (on the border of surrey). He has been doing a fantastic job breaking my boy in and my boy is so happy and confident it's amazing. He's an excellent jockey and does all the breaking in himself so no "helpers" that may not be as experienced. He is a dressage rider but breaks them in so they can do anything as he just cements the basics in really well. Hope this helps. PM me if you want further details.

I PM'd u about the same person as lfield's talking about!

Hi, I have PM'd you with details of a yard in Ashtead in Surrey which has schooling livery offered by an experienced event rider. Highly recommended!!
