Schooling pet hates...

My pet hate is me when im schooling! I am pretty useless at it, though I have a good instructor and Ethel is improving with each lesson, I feel like im still riding like a melon! I tip forwards, especially in downwards transitions, I cant use both my legs at the same time when we are working on bending on circles and corners, I bring my hand over so I have both hands on one side of her neck, I dont realise I do it at first but sort myself out when I've noticed it. My feet move back and forth when im doing rising trot, I stare at her head the entire time, so much so I very often end up veering off from what im meant to be doing. Jumping, I tend to get left behind a bit so I throw my reins at her over jumps and quite often I tip forwards a stride out :o Im my worst nightmare!!

At a yard I was at before this drove me mad, people would put up one jump in the school then jump over and over it putting it up and up , then try to almost show off by going my horse jump X Height blah blah errr no it can jump one single upright could you get it round a course of that NO and what exactly are you teaching it by flying round a school going over the same fence till the poor horse brain dead..!!

Spurs- Most folks I see with them have a terrible lower leg and bang them off the horse constantly .

Horses heads swinging side to side.....riders who ride with their hands at their crotch & riders who dont know the correct direction in which to pass another horse & interrupt your schooling session
