I thought I would join the world of matchy matchy and dressed pone up in matching bandages and saddle cloth and adorned myself with some clean breeches and a relatively matching gillet!

CC Welcome on all pics and videos - I know we aren't quite there with lateral work yet but hopefully it will get there soon. He is only competing at BD Novice so I don`t need to worry too much just yet. He was previously a showjumper so all this dressage malarkey is strange for him and he does tend to throw in the odd paddy - see vids!

Here are a few pics, there are quite a few so I didnt want to post them all so ive put a link to my photobucket ( http://s857.photobucket.com/albums/ab136/MelissaJH1990/ ) if anyone would like to see the rest
learning to stretch down ...

Very nice! He goes better than my boy who thinks shoulder in is something rugby-style that you do to be first to the hay in the field!

The one thing that popped up for me is that your hands move up and down quite a lot - I wonder if you were a bit stiller with your hands from the elbow (though obviously keeping the softness and still being willing to move with him, as your contact looks lovely!) it may stop some of the head-throwingness in the paddys?

But, like I say, very nice, I'm envious! How old is he?

Lovely matchy-matchy, the colour really suits him!

He looks like he's having great fun with his transition from SJ to DR, well done!! Overall I think he could be more in front of the leg, he looks a bit stilted to me (was the canter a bit four beat there or did the video trick me? I'm not very good at telling so may be wrong). I would be tempted to stay in rising trot, send him on a bit and try to get him to lengthen his neck. If you can keep your hand closer together, your elbows bent and the contact more consistent.

Love the matchy matchy... that colour is lovely :)

The only thing I would add was that the medium looked a little hurried, you seemed to gain speed rather than covering more ground! other than that I think you both looked fab :)

Thank you all for the kind comments :)

He does need to go more forwards I agree with you, he is better than he was but its still somthing we really need to work on! Also my hands have always been my worst fault, especially when im sitting. Maybe I should tie them down or somthing! Thank you for the advice though I will take it onboard and post some (hopefully) progress pictures soon :D

TicTac - Bandages and pad are from Fur Feather Meds they are HKM ones :)

Trish - thank you ! He is a German Warmblood with brilliant jumping lines (unfortuantly no dressage ones!) and he is 12, late starter for dressage!
