I want to have some schoolmaster dressage lessons and am wondering where to go for them. Narrowed it down to Claire Lilley or Talland - both close to me and seem to have a good reputation. I definitely want private lessons so cost wise both these options are more or less the same. I am competing at Novice level working Elementary, aim would be to get a good feel for the lateral work as my horse can sometimes be a little crooked, take away/fine tune exercises to improve my horse's way of going (tends to be rather on the forehand), and also to work on my seat/position. I like a quiet trainer who will explain things as they go along not bark orders and someone who will concentrate on the scales of training.

Does anyone have any experience of either - I have no idea which instructors at Talland would suit me.

I have been to Claire Lilley. She's a lovely lady - not at all shouty! She has a very good way of explaing things but makes sure you get them right. My first lesson with her had loads of lightbulb moments where I finally 'got' something.
I'm only a novice so haven't been doing the things you are looking to do but I feel sure Claire would cover these things if asked.
She only has an outdoor school though so pray for good weather.
