Hi,
I wanted some advise on starting some schoolmaster lessons in London.
I'm currently working in Hyde Park Stables in London and started my BHS qualifications. I miss having a horse so much as I basically had my own for all my life (before moving to UK/London and having a 1,5 year old...). Myself I competed up to medium level(in Sweden) and have trained piaffe and passage so I'm able to give more advanced lessons as well.
So in my mind I was thinking to get a nice schoolmaster who can do a bit more advanced movements such as flying changes and half pass etc. and find a livery within 45-50 mins from central london (paddington area, I live in st johns wood) either around stanmore or towards uxbridge to be able to pay the humongous amount the livery cost and maybe even afford start competing. I could offer a reasonable pick up cost (£10) as I would be needing to drive there myself.
Do you think it will be doable? And do you think livery yards (in general) will accept this? I'm not looking to hold a large amount of lessons - around 2-3 lessons a week, it will be more for me to be able to keep the costs down rather than having an actual business if that makes sense?
Do you think people will book for this? On top of the 1 hour lesson it would be around 45 mins each way to travel as well so it will take a big chunk of time... In the summers I'm pretty sure I have people as we know some families that reside here during August and already said that they will come if I do get myself a horse.
Thank you for any inputs on this!
