Unfortunately my pony is lame… So looking to do a couple of schoolmaster lessons whilst he is on the mend.

Ideally I want to be able to ride some of the more advanced dressage moves, and learn on a schoolmaster so I can then takeaway and make sure that I have the correct feel on my pony.

I’d also like to have a couple of SJ lessons over 1m+ fences, as we are confidently jumping 90cm-1m, but I’d like to get a feel and some confidence over bigger fences.

Are Talland/Summerhouse worth it? Based in London but happy to travel.

Good friend who’s competed to GP went to Talland and wasn’t overly impressed. She said there was an element of use hands before legs… (and I have heard that from someone else recently who is doing their I exam training there). Disclaimer - can only go by what these two have said - not gospel! ?

Others, including on this forum really rate it and will no doubt disagree! I trust my friends opinions so my advice would be go and try it yourself. Horses wise it’s probably unrivalled.

Wellington’s much closer to you and offers a lot of what you’re looking for, they lack horses who can passage or piaffe, but definitely have the jump horses. Lesson availability is a bit hit and miss however.

Having trained at Talland I would debate the "hand before leg training " mentioned above. Certainly not how I was taught for the year I was there and I think @Auslander would agree. (And I've ridden to Inter 1 so not exactly a novice):

I'd recommend Talland.
