Hi all
I have been contacted by someone who bought a horse from the same dealer that I did and had a bit of a nightmare, after returning the horse they are looking to spend 5-6k for an attractive schoolmaster sort, nothing exceptional, just something sane and able to hack and compete locally and doesnt looks like too much of a munter!! She is returning to riding after a break. She is worried that this isnt enough money and is looking at an exracehorse and another that windsucks. Can anyone help with some ideas on good places to look or have the ideal chap or chapess? There has to be some out there at that price at this time or year or am I naive? Many thanks for your help - just trying to help someone out.

I'm not surprised that your friend had a problem with the horse she bought from the same place as you did, just pleased she managed to return the horse. Have you or your friend tried Tannington Hall in Framlingham? They might have something - all their horses hunt with the Easton. They have a website www.tanningtonhall.co.uk if you want a look. There are a couple of dealers in Essex with very cheap horses, but I would steer well clear of them.

It depends how you define a school master really. A true schoolmaster - no, i dont think she's going to pick one up for that kind of money. Theyre usually worth their weight in gold and often change hands by word of mouth as opposed to public advertisement and they generally switch hands for insane amounts.

Something to literally just hack around and an RC type - should be possible but it comes down to find a sensible owner as horse prices are high atm.

sorry you are right - when i mean schoolmaster i mean something safe to hack and jump local courses not an eventing one.you are right tho - wouldnt mind one myself!

Rosie's Lotus Eater is still for sale at about the right price. Not sure about all the details but I know she's a lovable girl, very nice to have around and quiet I believe. She can certainly do local shows etc. PM me if you'd like contact info. This is her (grey on the left) hunting on Boxing Day
