My pony arrived on Friday! I already adore him, even though I didn't get to go and see him today because of a uni open day (
). He loaded perfectly, which is good news because I can't wait to take him to shows! He's horribly obsese - someone really has been killing him with kindness. He's been out in full-necked, heavyweight rugs all day even though he was really hairy and has all that fat on him, so he was incredibly hot and sweaty and it's made him so itchy he's rubbed his bum raw.
When he arrived, just the 10-minute trailer journey had left him wet with sweat, it was horrible. He seemed so uncomfortable that we decided to clip him out as soon as possible as a mercy mission! So out came the noisy old clippers and we did all of him except his legs, and he stood so quietly he might as well not even have been tied up! Then we had to give him a bath to get rid of all the leftover hairs, and once again he stood like a rock while we hosed him. So his loading, clipping AND bathing have all been tested in one day, and he has passed with flying colours!
Apparently his brakes aren't 100% and he sometimes pops into canter without being asked, which is a slight phobia of mine, but I've been working on my canter so I know I can handle it... still I am little nervous about riding him for the first time tomorrow, although I'm really looking forward to it!
