Hi folks! :D

Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Anna - I'm 23 and a (almost) graduated Politics student from Glasgow, living in Paisley.

I've ridden all of my life on and off - can't wait to get out of uni and in to a job so that I can get properly back in to it. Hopefully going to find a steed on part-loan to participate in Riding Club activities and brush up on my riding!

Nice to meet you all!

Ah Kent! Despite being at the other end of the country, I am (relatively) familiar with Kent. One thing I am not familiar with, however, is the weather you guys get. I come from the land of eternal pouring rain!! lol

Nice to meet you ebonyallen! :D

Hi Black Beastie!

It's nice to see that some Scots around here! As much as I love my English origins, it is comforting to know that their are some folks that I can moan about the weather with!!

Where in Scotland are you from?

Nice one Iq22! Where exactly is the pub? I tried the link but it leads me to another message board - was that meant to happen or am I being dumb?

Yes, you just need to register for it. It's a spin off - it used to be in Soapbox but Admin felt some of the content may not be suitable for delicate ears :D

Hi AnnaFloss, I am up in Aberdeenshire! I would say colder and less soggy but this winter its been all soggy and no cold, unlike last years 5 months of continuous snow cover at ours!

welcome!!!!!

Ah nice one! I have family up in that part of the country - Alford to be exact. I was up there at Christmas time and it was absolutely hellish weather! Mind you, I think today has been the first day I've seen the sun in weeks down here. Better get outside and get a dose of Vitamin D before it's too late!! :p

Welcome! I was born in Paisley and grew up about 8 miles away :D Defected to the east coast (fife then midlothian) ten years ago, defo colder but drier over here!

Hi saz5083!

Hmmm... I really need to get moved over to the east! My partner's family are from Arbroath and everytime I'm there its beautiful sunshine (the fish & chips isn't too bad either!!).

Thanks for the welcome! :D

Hi Babybear!

It's nice to meet a local! Where do you ride/keep your horse(s)?

Truth be told I'm trying to meet some horsey people in Glasgow as none of my friends have the bug in them! I'm going to be looking at loaning/part-loaning as soon as I get a graduate job - so trying to become a bit more familiar with yards in my locality... I grew up in East Dunbartonshire y'see!

Haha yes :D Have to be to live here

My big ginger is kept at Hazelden in Newton Mearns - we were at Ingliston in Bishopton before - and it takes me about 25 mins to drive there if I go through the Hurtlet and Barrhead.

I went to Glasgow uni as well :o

Hello Anna,

I'm pretty new on here too. Me and my big hoss live just outside Johnstone, so not far from you. I work at Strathclyde Uni, so pass through Paisley on the train every weekday.

Like some of the others who posted, I'm not from round here originally either, it has taken me a while to get used to the amount of rain!

It's a nice horsey area... Might be worth joining the Renfrewshire Riding Club - there are social activities (quiz nights etc) that don't need a horse and you might well meet up with someone who's looking for a sharer,in case you're interested in that ;)

Hi Anna, welcome :) I'm also thrilled to see some sunshine today, our field is like a mudbath. Me and horseface are in east kilbride so not a million miles away from you :)

the Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire hunt do stuff like that too :)

Studied at Glasgow eh? You must be really, really intelligent like me then ;) lol Ah I know Hazelden! Visited there a couple of times, it seems like a lovely yard. I've just had a look at your photos, you really do have a gorgeous looking horse! Do you do hunter classes with him?

And hello Brightbay! It's funny you should mention that, as I was looking at the website this morning. I couldn't find much information other than the membership form though, and I was hoping to maybe come to a social evening or something before joining outright! Are you a member? Would be great to get some more information :)

haha - I hated my course so much. In my final year I worked full time and only had about 2 hours contact time a week with my tutors.

Thank you. He loves it there :) He's so settled.
The best thing about Hazelden is the shop - I could quite easily bankrupt myself in there. :o

we weren't able to do hunter classes because he was grade a but hopefully we'll give it a go now we've got his winnings through :)
He doesn't enjoy jumping at shows anymore and he's getting on a bit so I'm trying to turn him into a dressage diva :D

I'm the same! I don't hate my course so much, but I also only have 2 hours tutor-student time.. It's mad! I'm in the middle of editing my dissertation right now, hence why I have just joined this forum lol

He really is a gorgeous one - he'll look great and very posh in all the dressage gear! Good luck with it! :)

haha great way to finish your dissertation :D
Mine was bloody useless and a waste of time :o

Hi tikino! Nice to meet a YO from nearby. Where is your yard? As I mentioned previously, I'm looking to loan/part-loan in the near future so it would be great to know of the local facilities :)
