Scrape near rump, how to treat?

My little appaloosa girly has got a scrape on her a couple of inches big by her rump. Possibly rough & tumble in the field or has rolled a little heavy handedly.
Normally, I'd just treat with hypocare or hibiscrub & put sudocreme on to protect.

She's out in the field during the day with a fly rug as I don't want them near the scrape, in at night.

As I say, wouldn't normally worry except its red hot here atm, she's fetched the fur off & the scrape looks red & sore and was weeping this morn (got the scrape yday, treated as above) she does have pink skin, so this could make it look worse than it is.

Any ideas?

I'd use the hypocare again but forget the sudocrem, you want it to dry up. IME sudocrem keeps scabs soft. You could spray with tea-tree oil to keep the flies off and help it to dry.

I wouldn't be putting anything oil based on a pink skinned horse in this weather, you will literally fry them.

I would try and swop your routine round until it heals - bring in by day so air can get to the scrape without flies being there, and turn out at night when flies and hot sun will not cause further issues. Keep it clean, then let the fresh air get to it so it dries and heals..

Sorry, yes I should have made it clear, we use a tea-tree based spray (minimal amount of oil), it helps to dry up grazes.

Are the stables cool/not very fly-filled? Could she be in during day without rug and out at night naked too?

Should dry up quicker that way.

Depends a lot on your yard/field set up though.
